General Program Overview

What is the Belle and Junior Belle Program?


The Belle and Junior Belle Program is a leadership, service, and social program of the  San Antonio Symphony League, designed to cultivate confidence, poise, and a spirit of philanthropy among young women while supporting the League’s mission and community impact.

What is the difference between Belles and Junior Belles?


Belles are high school participants, organized by graduation year, while Junior Belles are eighth grade participants who engage in a similar, age-appropriate introduction to the program.

Who is eligible to participate?

  • Junior Belles: Eighth grade students

  • Belles: High school students in the Classes of 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030

Registration & Enrollment

When does registration open?
Registration opens for current Belle and Junior Belle families on May 4 at 9:00 a.m., and for new families on May 7 at 9:00 a.m.

Is there a registration deadline?
Enrollment remains open until each class reaches capacity.

How are placements determined?
Placement is confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis upon completion of registration and payment.

What are the enrollment limits?

  • Belle classes are limited to 40 participants per grade level

  • Junior Belle enrollment is limited to 20 participants

Program Commitment & Experience

What is expected of participants?
Belles and Junior Belles are expected to actively participate in program events, service opportunities, and League-related activities throughout the year.

What types of activities are included?
The program includes a thoughtfully curated calendar of:

  • Service and philanthropic initiatives

  • Social gatherings and community-building events

  • Cultural and educational experiences

  • Symphony League events and engagements
     

What is the time commitment?
The program is designed to be meaningful yet manageable alongside academic and extracurricular commitments. A detailed calendar will be provided.

Financial Committment

What are the program fees?
Each Belle family is required to maintain an active membership with the League in addition to paying program fees per Belle.
 

Program fees are composed of two parts:

  • Annual Contribution: A $1,000 per Belle, per year tax-deductible donation, which directly supports the League's mission-based initiatives, including Paint to Music, the Encore! Instrument Donation Program, and community grants.

  • Activity Fees: These fees cover the costs associated with program events, activities, and materials. The Senior Activity Fee also includes Belle Ball tickets for the Belle and her escort.
     

What are the Junior Belle program fees?
The Junior Belle program fee is $850, which includes all activity-related expenses as well as Belle Ball tickets for the Junior Belle and one accompanying adult.

Are there additional costs?
Yes, certain program elements - particularly those related to the Belle Ball and attire - are separate from program fees and will be outlined in advance.

Belle Ball & Attire

What is the Belle Ball?
The Belle Ball is the signature event of the program and a defining milestone for participants, celebrating both the young women and the mission of the Symphony League.

What are the expectations for Senior Belles and their families?
Senior Belles are required to attend the Belle Ball. Each family is also required to purchase a table at the event. In recent years, table levels have ranged from $5,000 to $12,000. Families are additionally responsible for their Belle’s gown and any related formal attire.

What are the expectations for Junior Belles?
Junior Belles are required to purchase and wear a dress selected by the Junior Belle Committee. These dresses typically range from $200 to $400.

Are families expected to attend the Belle Ball prior to their daughter’s participation year?
Yes, Belle families are strongly encouraged to attend at least one Belle Ball prior to their daughter’s participation year to become familiar with the event and its traditions.

Family Involvement

Is parent participation required?
Parent involvement is an important part of the Belle experience. Families are encouraged to engage in League activities and support program events throughout the year.

Can new families participate?
Absolutely. The program warmly welcomes new families and provides a meaningful introduction to the Symphony League community.

Policies & Communication

What is the refund policy?
Program fees are non-refundable.

How will program communication be shared?
All communication will be distributed via email and text messaging. Families are asked to ensure their contact information is current and regularly monitored.
