San Antonio Symphony League History
Since 1950, the San Antonio Symphony League has proudly supported the Symphony through fundraising, education, and community engagement.
The organization began as The Women’s Committee of the San Antonio Symphony, founded in 1950 with Mrs. Henry Catto as its first president. In 1967, the group became the San Antonio Symphony League, expanding its mission and membership to create a broader circle of support. In 1991, the League merged with the Junior Committee, further strengthening its efforts.
In 2004, the League became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, allowing it to maximize fundraising impact for the Symphony. For more than seven decades, the League has directed its resources toward volunteer service, financial support, and music education initiatives that reflect San Antonio’s diverse cultural heritage.
The League continues to grow and evolve while honoring its traditions. In 2024, the League launched the Encore! Instrument Donation Program, which collects gently used instruments and places them into the hands of young musicians across San Antonio. In 2025, the League proudly introduced the Junior Belle Program, extending the Belle legacy by engaging the next generation of Symphony League families in service, tradition, and support of the arts.
Today, the San Antonio Symphony League remains committed to enriching our community through music, honoring the vision of its founders, and celebrating over 75 years of dedicated service.
